摘要:Free boundary/moving interface problems are challenging both theoretically and numerically. In this general talk, I will introduce some application examples and corresponding differential equations models. The applications include Stefan problems of unstable crystal growth, drop spreading, flow past obstacles (stationary or dynamic), electrical voids motions, wave propagation modeled by Maxwell equations, multi-phase flows etc. If time permits, I will present a brief review of numerical methods for solving those challenging problems, particularly Cartesian grid methods such as Peskin's Immersed Boundary (IB) method, the Immersed Interface Method (IIM), the Immersed Finite Element Method (IFEM), and augmented approach.
主讲人简介:
李治林,教授,美国北卡罗来纳州立大学数学系终身教授,是国际上著名的计算数学专家,1989 年赴美在华盛顿大学留学,师从LeVeque 教授,1994 年获博士学位后在UCLA 从事博士后研究工作,1997 年至今在北卡州立大学数学系工作至今。他在SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis,SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing,Journal of computational physics,Numerische Mathematik 等计算数学顶级杂志上发表论文100 多篇。担任 Numerical Mathematics: Theory, Methods and Applications 等多个杂志的编委。主要研究领域为:计算数学,浸入界面法(IIM)、浸入有限元法(IFEM)以及快速浸入界面法(AIIM)等去有效求解涉及含有奇异源项、不连续的物理参数及不规则区域上、自由边界、移动界面等问题的偏微分方程的数值方法,模拟计算流体力学方面的问题。
